Nick Barrett and his wife, Rita, moved from Denver to Los Angeles in 2007. Before moving to LA, Nick was a volunteer youth worker for 6 years at various churches in Colorado. During that time, he also worked with at risk youth in a residential treatment center in Ft. Collins Co. After graduating from Colorado Christian University in 2007, Nick felt a calling to serve youth in the church context. In 2008 Nick joined the staff at Hollywood Pres; and during that same year, he began his MDiv studies at Fuller Theological Seminary.
As a youth minister, Nick’s greatest desire is for students to develop a living relationship with Jesus Christ and find community in the life of the church. As an educator, Nick’s wants to help Jr. High and High School students develop a nuanced biblical imagination, so that they might discern God’s presence in both church and culture.
During his time at Fuller, Nick began to sense a call to the disciplines of theology and culture. Nick has an MA in English Literature from the University of California, Irvine, and is currently working on a PhD in Theology and Culture at Fuller Seminary. He is a candidate for ordination in the PC(USA).
Nick enjoys reading fiction, theology, and poetry. He is also an adjunct professor of Literature and Critical Theory at Providence Christian College in Pasadena, Ca. He loves art, film, and good conversation, and can be easily persuaded to have lunch or coffee with parents and students.
